Westminster House

 Westminster House is a three storey Grade II listed building in a prominent position at the junction of Packhorse Road and South Park within Gerrards Cross. We at The White House Design assisted the owners in facilitating the change of use for  this historic former Barclays Bank to serve its new residential and commercial purposes.

Very much a detailed building with a double double depth plan, details such as the English bond brick with stone dressings; slate mansard roof; brick ridge stacks with moulded stone cornices; result in ornate elevations frontages. The property has a ‘Wrenaissance’ style in reference to Sir Christopher Wren, known for his English Baroque works.

 

This beautiful building has a symmetrical and proportional designs with a wide range of ornamentation and details such as the carved pedimented stone doorway over fluted Corinthian pilasters framing a panelled double door entrance; pane sashes set in gauged red brick square, headed architraves with finely carved keystones at ground floor level and cut brick aprons at first floor level; rusticated quoin strips; dentilled wood cornice; pedimented dormers. This building is listed under the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 as amended for its special architectural or historic interest.
