New Street Apartments

The Chelmsford site utilizes the spacious car park of the existing hotel, to provide a proposal that fronts onto New Street. Works proceeded for a 20-unit development with 16 residential units and 4 commercial units on the ground floor. The form of this building is governed by the straight structural steel elements, producing an orthogonal arrangement that results in a high-density residential proposal, considering the overall building footprint. This functional form holds residential 2-bedroom apartments. The scheme delivers homes able to exceed minimum national space standards by more than 40 per cent. We had the opportunity to provide assistance in gaining relevant planning permissions as well as providing the structural design package for this site.
