Barking Road

Barking Road is a development of 2 new build semidetached homes, these houses have been designed with a unique and striking form and provide a refreshing​ contemporary frontage that responds to the residential context and street scene.

This proposal aimed to unlock the full potential of the application site, whilst minimising the impact on daylight and privacy of the surrounding existing buildings. Key views from street evel on Inniskilling Road as well as the overall heights and scale of neighbouring properties, were carefully considered when designing the scheme.
 

A design feature, the modern bay window at the front facade, running from ground to first floor, reflects the period bay windows of the existing terraces. On the first floor, an angled wall of the rear wing, creates a contemporary look whilst protecting the privacy of both the new development and the neighbouring buildings and maximises the available floor space internally. The final refined massing design proposed is a considerate and appropriate response to the existing built context, complementing and responding to the architectural style of the surrounding area.
