This site at Hogfare Lane presented opportunity with space to rear and side of the existing property, to allow for a proposal of two-storey side and rear extension. Depending on the local authority in which a property is located within and the constraints of the site, a two-storey side extension may be a viable option for extension and renovation works. This project fell within the jurisdiction of South Bucks District Council. Each local authority has its own policy on two storey side extensions, with the foremost concern being the terracing effect. Some authorities require extensions set inward from the side whilst others require a set back from the front. All side extensions require planning permission and building control approval.
