The Drury House

Formerly The Drury House Tea Room now The Cobbles a newly renovated Wine Bar located just outside of Windsor Castle within a beautiful Grade II listed property. This late seventeenth century 4 storey building required internal reformation and structural works at lower ground and basement. Particular care was taken in preserving details such as the painted stone strings at first floor, window cills, moulded and denticulated cornice over first floor windows and the 18th century wrought iron railings that complement this historic façade fronting onto the cobble sets of Church Street. 

 

Recognizing this potential and the need to preserve its heritage, a light touch conservation approach has been used. Where intervention and change is required, we seek to preserve the special character of these building resulting in the quiet and restrained refurbishment of the structure and the main alterations being cosmetic for aesthetic purposes. The ‘light touch’ philosophy sought only to intervene where essential in order to assist in the building meeting current building regulations.  In order to maintain respect of the historical setting of Windsor Town Centre Conservation Area.
